Nick Hexum 311 - Melody Key, Florida
By Private Islands Magazine • Aug 12th, 2008 • Category: Celebrities
As we’ve seen so far, quite a number of famous musicians seem to want private islands all to themselves. If you’re wondering why this is the case, Nick Hexum, front man for alternative band 3-11, may have the answer. He says there’s no better place to write and practice his music than Melody Key, his 5.5-acre retreat in South Florida. With a cool modern home and clothing-optional policy, the island is also a popular rental property that goes for $7500 a week. Nick’s hectic schedule doesn’t leave him much time to enjoy it, however, so here’s a rare chance to buy a celebrity-owned island for yourself- that is, if you’ve got an extra $4.9M lying around.

This poor dude will wind up in foreclosure.. He paid $2.8 million and spent millions on renovations and landscaping, according to a 2006 Wall Street Journal article. He also said that the property was “mortgaged to the hilt.” He tried asking $10 million at that time, but now has it down to $4.9 and nobody is jumping at that price. The rental history is weak and the expenses have to be astronomical. How did some Alt Rock singer think he could afford this?
STEVE, you’re probably a big huge tool just for taking the time to write that response. Are you simply jealous that Hexum and his band mates have “astronomical” more amounts of money than you do or did Nick snag some girl you dig at one of his shows? He is an entrepreneur and who gives a shit what he “thinks” he can afford? He’s owned it quite a few years now and 311 is just gaining fans. More fans mean more record sales and more sold out shows. Which equal more money. You dumb ass.
WHenever I get married I might take a week off and rent this nice little retreat I hope he definetely keeps it, and ya man, why you got to have such a negative attitude towards Nick man he is the shit, has a lot of fans and probably made 10 mil his first year. if not more. There first album came out in 93. Do the math.
