One of the most glamorous occasions on the London society calendar, the Macmillan Christmas Celebrity Stocking Auction is a unique charitable event that Private Islands Inc. is proud to be participating in for the second year. Held on Dec. 2nd by the fantastic Macmillan Cancer Support organization, the auction raises much-needed funds for medical and care support for people living with cancer. Each year, fifteen celebrities are asked to describe what they’d most love to find in their ‘Dream Christmas Stocking’. These items are donated to the charity, and the “stockings” are then auctioned off to an exclusive audience at the Waldorf Hilton in London. In past years, participating celebrities have included Sir Elton John, Sienna Miller, Hugh Grant, Helen Mirren and Robbie Williams.

Last year’s auction of a relaxed week on Florida’s Melody Key was a huge success, and this year, bidders will be fighting over a holiday on Spectacle Island, Maine. Featured in Time Magazine and voted one of Travel and Leisure’s Top 10 Dream Trips, this charming slice of coastal Maine has long been one of the most popular island rentals in the USA. Spectacle has a classic hand carved post-and-beam house, and guests will enjoy swimming, boating and a fun lobster bake. Thanks to the generous donors and everyone who works to make the auction such a success, and best of luck to this year’s bidders!
