Summer Hill Island: The Heart of Lake Glenville
Lake Glenville, one of the treasures of North Carolina’s Southern Blue Ridge Mountains, is a pristine mountain lake that sits on the Highlands/Cashiers Plateau at an elevation of 3542 feet. The lake is the highest manmade lake east of the Mississippi, created in 1941 when a dam was constructed on the Tuckasegee River, flooding the entire valley north of the town of Cashiers.
